- The first glimpse I had of it was this. I couldn’t believe it.
- A Hickory tree no more than 4″ in diameter did all of this.
- Will hit the tree on the passenger side, right in front of the door.
- The car wrapped around the tree, causing the door to pop open slightly.
- When I got out of Zach’s car, I felt sick. I think that’s the first time I fell apart. If Zach hadn’t held me, I’d have dropped to my knees. I couldn’t understand why seeing the car upset me so much, two weeks after the wreck. Zach knew…. he said” Mom, seeing the car in this condition you know that Will went through hell. He was in there. You can’t see his broken body on the inside like you can the car.” My son… so caring, so perceptive. He was right. I couldn’t imagine how much it hurt. How long he was there alone. How scared he may have been. It was horrible. I’m so blessed to still have him with me.
- Zach took this from above, looking down toward the front. It’s hard to believe that Will unstrapped himself, and climbed out the passenger window.
- Will had been in the hospital at least 10 days before I went to pay the wrecker bill, storage, and clean out the car.
